Description:
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is the twelfth major instalment in the Assassin's Creed series, developed and published by Ubisoft. It is set during the Viking Age, specifically the second half of the 9th century, in various North Atlantic and Northern European locations, including Norway, England (where most of the main game action takes place), the Isle of Skye, Ireland (in the DLC Wrath of the Druids), Francia (modern-day France, specifically Paris and the surrounding area, in the DLC Siege of Paris), and technically Vinland (North America) in the Last Chapters free update, although it is only referenced. In addition, dream and vision sequences allow the player to inhabit the body of Havi (Odin) and visit mythological locations such Ásgarðr, Jötunheimar, Svartalfheimr, and Músepellsheimr.
The player takes the role of Eivor Varinsdottir, a Norwegian who is the adoptive child of a petty king named Styrbjorn Sigvaldisson who rules a people called the Raven Clan in the region of Rygjafylke (modern day Ryfylke in Rogaland). Eivor's birth parents, who were vassals of Styrbjorn, are killed in a raid by the rival Wolf Clan when Eivor is very young. When they have grown into an adult, Norway is being subjugated and united under the single kingship of Haraldr hárfagri (Harald Fair-hair) who is exerting pressure on aristocrats, chieftains, and petty kings. Styrbjorn, without warning, swears fealty to Haraldr, angering his son and Eivor's adoptive brother, Sigurd, who thus has lost his royal patrimony. Together with a portion of the Raven Clan, Eivor and Sigurd decide to leave Norway and seek greener pastures in England, which has already been occupied by Scandinavian Vikings for eight years (the so-called "Great Heathen Army" arrived in 865).
