Description:
Skyrim is the fifth mainline installment of The Elder Scrolls franchise, developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks, a United States-based development and publishing company. Like previous Elder Scrolls games, Skyrim is an open-world action role-playing game set in the fictional, high fantasy world of Tamriel, a continent on the planet Nirn. Since its original release in November of 2011 to great critical and commercial success, Skyrim has been remastered, updated, adapted for VR play, and ported to successive generations of consoles, maintaining its presence on current generation hardware. It also made innovations in the genre and set a new standard for open-world RPGs and has influenced numerous games that came after it. Skyrim is set in the eponymous region of Tamriel, Skyrim, the home of the Nords, whose culture and realm are inspired by Viking Age and medieval Scandinavia.| Videogame References | Description | Tags |
